Welcome -

If you are looking for a religious community in which to seek spiritual growth...

If you would like the fellowship of others for worship, discussion, education, friendship and mutual support...
If you are seeking a church where the freedom of the pulpit and the freedom of the pew are equally respected…
If you desire an opportunity for women and men, regardless of race, color, religion of origin, sexual orientation or political affiliations, to come together and be more concerned with the love of people than the love of things…
If you want children to be helped to develop their spiritual curiosity, compassion, and critical thinking…
If you wish to preserve and extend the traditions of democracy, freedom of conscience and human dignity…

Church As Family?
Rev. Carolyn Colbert
Mom, Dad, Dick, Jane, Sally, Spot and Puff. The classic 50’s family. What’s wrong with this picture? Nothing. Except that it leaves out so many people. Today, as our monthly, between services, Family Worships begin again, it seemed appropriate to revisit and expand on the idea of both church and family.
Eileen McCornack, music. Ann Fuller, worship associate.
Also Family Worship 10:20am to 10:40am - Harvest Time, Candee Cole, DRE

October 13 at 9:00 and 11:00am
We Know We’ve Been Changed!
Rev. Carolyn Colbert & The Choir
No question about it. This is not the same church it was just a few years ago. It really has changed! This congregation has become the 3rd largest UU congregation in Oregon. The number of groups and activities has quadrupled. Our RE programs, our music program, and our sense of community have deepened and expanded. Today we celebrate and support it all with wonderful music from our choir, challenging words, and our six month stewardship pledges.

October 20 at 9:00 and 11:00am
(Remember: Daylight Savings Time ends - turn your clocks back and sleep another hour)
Famous Last Words
Rev. Bob Swain, guest
Personal Reflection, Karm Hagedorn
We welcome the Rev. Bob Swain to our pulpit this morning. Bob was the minister of this congregation from 1970 to 1979. He says of his sermon, “Rambling through the final words of some greats and a few witty unknowns, there’s insight to be gained about the art of dying will when we finally do it. Don’t worry, this sermon is not maudlin; in fact, there are some pretty funny stories about people’s last words, and things to think about while we are living out our days.”
Jean Weick, musician. Carolyn Colbert, worship associate.

October 27 at 9:00 and 11:00am
United Nations Sunday - One Planet Indivisible
Worship Associates: Dennis Reynolds, Barbara Hasek, Nancy Terry, and the Choir
The United Nations came in to being at the end of World War II as the manifestation of a hope for a different way of resolving international conflict. Now on the brink of war, that ideal, though tarnished, still shines. Then and now we Unitarian Universalists strive to keep that hope alive.

...It appears to me, one gradually formulates one's religion, be it what it may.  A person has no religion who has not slowly and painfully gathered one together, adding to it, shaping it;  and one's religion is never complete and final, but must always be undergoing modification.
   - D.H. Lawrence

"Many who wander from the beliefs of their childhoods find their own paths to truth and meaning. Unitarian Universalists recognize that there are many paths, and we each must find our own way, guided by reason, conscience, and personal experience.
Together we support one another's journey.
Come meet some fellow travelers."

Out of wood and stone, out of dreams and sacrifice, the People build a home.
Out of the work of their hands and hearts and minds, the People fashion a symbol and a reality.
May all who enter here trust one another so surely that they dare to share the deep fires that burst into anger as much as the sweet springwaters that swell into laughter;
the slow erosion of wounded tears as much as the soaring song...
- Eileen Karpeles
