Dear Jean,
I recently learned that there was a public comment period for the Ocean Water Quality Program. I would like to learn more about this program, and am therefore requesting a Public Meeting in ________________ regarding Oregon’s implementation of the BEACH Act. There is a large ocean recreational community living in ________________. Being part of that population, I would like more information on this BEACH program. I frequent ________________________________ and ________________________________ beaches and would like to express my desire to have these locations tested for water quality as part of this proposed program.
As a member of the ocean recreation community I believe it is critical that there be year round testing of Oregon’s beaches. I feel that the $228,000 in federal funds received by Oregon this year is adequate to test the number of proposed beaches at this frequency. Finally, I would like to share some information sources which I believe would most effectively reach me and other ocean recreational users as part of the BEACH Act’s public notification requirement.
I appreciate your efforts to begin implementing this program and look forward to being kept informed about further ocean issues.
