Why monks? A good question. So many WWW pages seem to exist without purpose or reason. Being in a reactionary state of mind, I wanted to have a reason for my specialization. In the course of writing a book, I've had to learn a bit about monks, monasteries, abbots, cloisters, scriptoriums, and various other tidbits. Instead of letting all of my research hide between the pages of an unpublished work, I knew others interested in these communal fellows would benefit from an exposition such as this.

As I do more research, more will appear. And in due time I hope to amass a vast collection of information.
