Process Work is an innovative approach
to individual and collective change that combines psychology, spirituality,
social activism and art into a single coherent framework. Its broad spectrum
applications include psychotherapy, bodywork, relationship conflict and
large group dynamics.
Process Work developed in the 1970s and
1980s when Dr. Arnold Mindell, a Jungian analyst in Zurich, Switzerland,
began researching illness as a meaningful expression of the unconscious
mind. Also known as process-oriented psychology or dreambody work, Process
Work offers new ways of working with areas of life that are experienced
as problematic or painful. He discovered that the dreaming process went
far beyond our nighttime dreams and could be seen in physical symptoms,
relationship difficulties, addictions, extreme states of consciousness
and social tensions. All of these dreamlike processes - when approached
with curiosity and respect, can lead to new insight and en energetic shift
that is vital for our personal development and the evolution of our collective
bodies.
With roots in Jungian psychology, Taoism and physics, Process Work is
based on the assumption that the solution to a problem is contained within
the disturbance itself. Process work has developed into a comprehensive
therapeutic system designed for working with a broad spectrum of human
experience. It provides a practical framework through which individuals,
couples, families and groups can connect with greater awareness and creativity.
