Qehn's World Music Zone
Hi. I'm Qehn (pronounced "ken"). I'm not a professional
ethnomusicologist. It's just my hobby. But I do have a great deal of
interest in music from Africa (especially West Africa and Zimbabwe) and
Indonesia (especially Central Java). I am learning to play the
Kora, the Balafon (I have actually made two of them, and I
am currently working on a third), the Mbira dza Vadzimu. I am also
the music director of a Javanese gamelan. As I have time and
energy, I will be putting up information about this music, including, but
not limited to, music notation, midi files, plans for building
instruments, intonation systems, and anything else I find interesting and
appropriate. Your suggestions, comments and criticisms are welcome.
