I am not an expert, but I play one on the Internet. I know nothing about anything. Any advice you take from this web site is at your own risk, just like all other sites on the 'net. That said, I'll put forth my 2¢ worth of information here. Maybe you'll make one less mistake than I've made. If you and your pet are a bit happier for this information, then it's been worthwhile. The subjects covered here are based on what I've learned from living with Cocker Spaniels, both American and English, but might be of general interest.
Every dog breed has its good and bad points. A "good" Cocker will have very few health and personality problems, but a "special" Cocker, despite his problems, can still be a wonderful pet. My desire is to avoid sounding too negative, but to also avoid the silvery worded adoration presented in most books. This gives the impression that all is rosy and that Cockers are for everyone... and it ain't necessarily so.
CockersSince you are visiting this page, I'd guess you probably own, or have owned, a Cocker. This is a quick history and review of a few of the Cockers I've have had the pleasure of knowing.
Owning a healthy pet starts before you buy. With careful shopping, you can find a pet that will be healthy and happy for many years to come. I cover a few of the things that can go wrong in the Cocker Spaniel. Once you have your pet, keeping him groomed can help keep him healthy and happy. I cover some of the tools I've found helpful, with a few tips for grooming your pet at home.
I'm still new to this technology. A basic page like this isn't hard to do, but I probably overlooked a few things. See any blatant errors?
