The following topics relate to some of the activities and interests of our ancestors which took place in both Lingen a. d. Ems and in Boston, Massachusetts.

The information contained in the Neubauerei files concerns how the family acquired a small farm in Lingen Stadtflur. Documents of ownership from 1835 through 1882 as well some interesting maps can be found within those files. The Table of Contents has a more comprehensive description of those materials.

In Boston a number of our Wessling relatives were were employed by the Whiting - Adams Co. brush making firm. This subject matter deals mainly with the history of the company and the families which controlled the business from its inception until it was acquired by the Star Brush Mfg. Co. in the 1930's. Company literature featured an illustration of Henry Wessling at work.

Several of our ancestors were instrumental in the founding and operation of the The Germania Co-operative Bank. We discuss not only that organization but also its 2 predecessors - the German Savings Bank and the German Loan & Fund Association.

The Roxbury section of Boston was the home to a number of Wesslings and their relatives. In particular, there was a neighborhood in Boston Highlands where most of them had congregated. We were able to locate many details regarding the development of the area surrounding Fulda Street.

Lastly, some facts were assembled on the short history of a group calling themselves the Germania Association of Roxbury.
