Wesselings Neubauerei

This report is a translation of the Summary of Facts, as determined by the law courts in Lingen, supporting the ownership of the Wesseling Neubauerei.1

"Given at Amt Lingen, December 30, 1847

"The widow of Neubauer Johann Heinrich Wessling, Anna Alheid, geb. Kuhr appeared:

"The previous owners of her Neubauerei were her parents-in-law, Johann Hermann Wessling and Anna Alheid Rolfes, who had been dead for many years. Four of their children2 were still alive and from his relatives her husband, with whom she had lived (mit Lust und Last), had acquired the Neubauerei and, in fact, 29 years ago. Since that time they have been in sole possession. This had been properly confirmed by Neubauer Heidotting and by Erb Wasmuth.

"Since her marriage she has lived with her husband as a joint owner of the property.

"A deed had never been drawn up.

"The Zehnrente had been paid on the so-called Dankelmannskamp. The obligations of the Neubauerei were current."3

Anna Alheid noted that "her husband had been dead for 3 years and was survived by their 7 children: (whose names and ages were reproduced)

Anna Alheid, 25
Johann Albert, 24
Anna Gesina, 23
Gerhard Heinrich, 19
Hermann Heinrich, 14
Johann Bernhard, 11
Johann Hermann, 8"

She signed, in her own handwriting, her surname as "Wesseling" and the document was witnessed by one of the officials of the Chancery.

A drawing up of the Title of Possession4 took place on the same date and the Neubauerei was described as follows:

Brandkassen-Nr. 19 Wohnhaus an der Haselünner Chaussee

The original description5 of the property was that it comprised a parcel of land with a total surface area of approximately 6.125 acres, calculated on the basis of the Hannoverian measurement system, consisting of 4 sections:

einem Hofhause,
einem Garten am Hause,   (1  Morgen 6 85 QRuthen 7)

einem Kamp,                      (5  Morgen    85 QRuthen)
