Council talks dogs, rights Published: November 8, 2005 According to press releases by Cathy Steere, city recorder, the Lincoln City City Council will discuss a proposed amendment to the city code Title 6, "Animals and Dogs," at its Nov. 14 regular meeting. The council has been discussing legislative changes about dogs in light of a recent pit bull attack in the city. Recent council discussions have centered on general restrictions rather than breed-specific restrictions. A copy of the draft amendment will be available as of the afternoon of Nov. 10 at City Hall, 801 S.W. Highway 101. The council will also discuss a proposed "Equal Rights Ordinance." The draft ordinance "prohibits discrimination based on race, religion, color, sex, marital status, national origin, age (if the individual is 18 or older), disability, sexual orientation and gender identity," the press release stated. A copy of this draft ordinance will also be available at City Hall. Current city codes can be viewed at www.lincolncity.org.
