We are a
citizens group called Vision for Intact Ecosystems & Watersheds (formerly East Fork
Amazon Headwater Preservation [EFAHP]).
This group was spearheaded and is now represented
by Lisa Warnes.
We started organizing in June of 2004 after finding that Portland developer Joe Green purchased the nearly 40 acre property located between Nectar Way and Dillard Road in Eugene, Oregon for $325,000. The City of Eugene had offered only $300,000 and lost the deal.
Our group consists of close to 150 households and we network through email. We have held yard sales and many members have made generous donations to fund the effort to protect this forest.
Friends of Eugene and Vision for Intact Ecosystems & Watersheds are now in collaboration with one another to work for the preservation of the last of the natural open spaces and to lobby for sound and sustainable planning decisions. FoE and VIEW have very similar visions and goals.
FoE is a coalition of citizens and organizations that work together to shape the future of Eugene. A future that values a small town feel, and with unprecedented growth, planning and policy decisions are of critical concern. Preservation of Eugene's natural environment is also high on the list for FoE.
VIEW is dedicated to the protection and preservation of Eugene's wildlife habitat and health of the Amazon Headwaters. By joining the ranks with FoE we are taking our dedication to a higher level.
Our other endorsements include the Southeast Neighbors and Santa Clara Committee for Sensible Parks and Open Space. |
