STAR WARS: An Ill Wind
Session 06
INT. BATTLESHIP - CREW COMMON AREA
The muted sound of the alert klaxon in the background has agitated most of the formerly listless Nemoidian officers and crew, who cluster together around their captain exchanging worried looks and fearful speculation. The crew of the Dauntless, meanwhile, have moved to positions closer to the doors (though not suspiciously so if the wrong person should happen to walk in).
The Lord-Captain shakes his head. "Maaadmen. I warned them not to go, but..."
The doors hiss open suddenly, attracting the gaze of everyone in the room. Framed in the doorway are the returning escapees, with Day-Lin and Harukuk in the lead.
Day-Lin says "Sorry about the delay."
The captain says accusingly, "You! What haff you done?!"
Day-Lin says "Oh, nothing much; shut down the main reactor, taken out a couple of squads of battle droids, one destroyer, and gotten your sorry hides out of imprisonment. You're welcome."
Avirida, Sekk and the other Nemoidian hustle through the door, which slides shut behind them.
Avirida would cover her smirk if she had a free hand. She doesn't, so she just chokes it.
Jatt (the Nemoidian captain) draws himself up and makes his way out of the crowd to stand face to face with the young Jedi. His race are tall, and he takes advantage of that to look down at his 'savior'. "Now you have provoked them. We shall all be killed for your foooolish human pride."
Sekk protests, "Lord-Captain, please..."
Jatt raises a hand imperiously. "Silence!"
Harukuk gives a warning growl, to remind the Nemoidian of his looming presence. He then says something slightly more intelligible, at least to some.
Jatt flinches a bit, despite himself, then smooths out his captain's robes and waits for the Jedi to offer a defense of his reckless actions. As if there was one.
Avirida says pleasantly, translating, "And you think they'd really have left you alive once they were sure they could run the ship alone?"
Jatt ums, and looks to his crew, who fidget but offer nothing helpful.
Jatt says, "We had ho-oped that we would be ransomed..."
Day-Lin says "Avirida's exactly right. They were going to kill you anyway. They might still, but you have a fighting chance -- especially if you step outside and pick up some of the rifles those deactivated droids have on them." He pauses. "Or don't you believe in fighting, you know, in person?"
Jatt places a spindly grey hand to his chest. "Certainly not. We are a civilized people. That is why we haff droids."
Harukuk growls a sarcastic word. ["Civilized."]
One of the Nemoidians in the background steps forward. "I... will come with you." He's trying to be brave, he really is.
Day-Lin says "Good for you. If any of the rest of you agree, I figure we have about half an hour to take the ship back from the pirates before they get around our little sabotage. Maybe less. Which is why I don't really have any more time to waste here. Let's go.""
Two more volunteers exchange glances and step forward to join their comrade, while the rest huddle behind the protection of the Lord-Captain.
Avirida nods approvingly to the volunteers, as she finishes catching her breath.
The Dauntless crewhands wait for Day-Lin to finish his speech before answering. "We're with you, m'lord."
Harukuk says to the crew, ["There's ample rifles."]
Day-Lin says "Split into small groups, make sure at least every group has at least one rifle, and head for the bridge by different routes." He motions to the Nemoidians who've volunteered. "One of you go with each group so they know where they're going. Sekk, can you take us somewhere right over or under or beside the bridge without a direct line of fire from it on the way there?"
<OOC> Kelly says, "Whoa. Suddenly, Day-Lin takes charge."
<OOC> Avirida says, "It's the Jedi way. ;)"
Sekk's eyes glaze over a bit as she considers Day-Lin's request and her own knowledge of the ship.
The doors slide shut on Jatt's scornful visage as the group moves back out into the hallway.
<OOC> Kelly says, "So. You have the PCs (minus Pira), plus a Named Nemoidian ;), plus three alien mooks and four other crew."
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "One vicious pirate."
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "One snippy Jedi."
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "TEN. THOUSAND. BULLETS."
<OOC> Kelly says, "Heh."
<OOC> Kelly says, "Speaking of which..."
INT. BATTLESHIP - BRIDGE
Jacobi Festus settles back in the command chair, rubbing his forehead briefly. Perhaps he's getting a headache.
Jacobi turns back to his comely (and dangerous) young prisoner, musing aloud, "Now what *am* I going to do with you?"
Pira laces her fingers together despite the binders, and gives him a placid look back.
Jacobi notes, "If you weren't a Jedi, I could probably get a good price. You'd make a fine dancing girl for some Hutt."
Jacobi sighs. "As it is, I'll probably have to kill you sooner or later. Damn shame."
Jacobi starts to turn away, then looks back. "Though... I *might* be persuaded to spare you. If you were able to talk your friends into giving up...?"
Pira's expression doesn't flicker.
Jacobi says, "Yes? No?"
Jacobi says, "I thought you Jedi were interested in saving lives."
Pira shifts her bound wrists to rest on her knees, and closes her eyes.
Jacobi draws back, his expression hardening. "Fine. On your head be it."
<OOC> Pira conducts her meditation upon precept number three, 'There is no death, there is the Force'
CUT TO:
INT. BATTLESHIP - REACTOR CHAMBER
Making their way carefully through the dimly lit corridors, Vinc and a small band of fellow pirates come at last to the reactor room. The Twi'lek gives orders for the hastily-assembled tech crew to fan out and check for anyone who might be hiding.
Vinc's gaze falls upon the wrecked console, which has several deep gouges in it and assorted dents and smashed monitors. Cut cables are everywhere. One fuse box has been completely slagged.
Vinc just stares for a long moment. Then he screams in frustration and starts hitting the console with the butt of his rifle, over and over, though he can do little to damage it further.
CUT TO:
INT. BATTLESHIP - CORRIDOR
Sekk leads the now-armed group down a dead-end corridor and, borrowing a tool from Avirida, loosens the fastenings of a grill. Once removed, it reveals a ventilation shaft.
<OOC> Kelly says, "It's a DIE HARD-inspired adventure. I've got to get you into air ducts sometime."
<OOC> Harukuk ROTFL!
Avirida regards the shaft warily. "I have to admit," she murmurs, "I'm not liking this idea."
Day-Lin inspects the duct, muttering, "Great." Then he eyes the Wookiee. "Will he fit in there?"
Harukuk grumbles.
All other eyes turn to the Wookiee as well. Sekk clears her throat. "If not this way, we will have to go through the corridors. And the pirates will be looking for us now."
<OOC> Avirida firmly resists the temptation to mutter, "Wookiee wax?"
<OOC> Kelly dies laughing.
Day-Lin sighs. "Oh, all right, all right." Clipping the saber to his belt, he climbs up into the shaft. There's a rustling, a sudden banging sound, and a loud "Owww!"
Avirida peers into the shaft, trying to discern what happened.
Day-Lin's voice reports, "Banged my head. Watch it, there's some kind of a thing in the ceiling of this...whatever."
Avirida sighs, and does her best to ease her way - carefully, and watching for 'things' in 'ceilings,' which might be any surface depending on orientation - into the shaft.
At that moment, a blaster bolt lances down the corridor and hits one of the Nemoidian volunteers, who topples with a shriek.
Harukuk returns fire, covering those who would enter the shaft.
Avirida becomes suddenly much less careful about getting in, and clearing the way for the others.
At the far end of the corridor section, the Devaronian gunman looks up from his blaster rifle with a frown. (He was aiming for the Wookiee, but the grey-skin got in the way at the last moment. Irritating, that.) The other pirates charge forward with a cry.
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "I'm picturing the sunglassed guy from 'The Killer', lowering his smoking gun as his confederates charge."
<OOC> Kelly says, "Exactly."
<OOC> Kelly says, "Okay. Avirida's scrambling into the shaft. Harukuk's returning fire. Most of the Nemoidians are trying to do the former and the crewmen the latter."
<OOC> Kelly says, "Harukuk, can I get a blaster roll?"
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Hmmm. Damn pirates took my bowcaster. Ah well. ;)"
Harukuk rolls 2 dice: <2> 3
Harukuk pages: 7, total.
Green blaster fire forms a deadly webwork in the corridor. One of the pirates goes down as he's hit in the head, falling over backwards. Moments later, Avirida's fellow engineer Koos is shot in the leg and drops to the floor with a cry of pain, gritting his teeth. Harukuk's shot goes into the onrushing pirates with no visible effect.
<OOC> Kelly says, "Next round."
Day-Lin curses volubly. But, rather than try to get back out, he heads down the duct at the fastest pace the cramped area will allow.
Avirida grits her own teeth as she recognizes that cry; she shakes silver hair out of her face and keeps working her way along the shaft behind Day-Lin, clearing room for Nemoidians.
Edrick (the gunman) snaps off another shot from where he is, over the heads of the charging pirates, but it goes wide. Snarling, he begins to jog after them.
A second pirate goes down as a bolt burns right through his blast vest. The Nemoidian who fired the shot - his first ever - blinks in surprise. Then he's hit twice himself and crumples.
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Who's gone up the shaft?"
<OOC> Kelly says, "Day-Lin, Avirida, Sekk, and one Nemoidian. Two Nemoidians, Harukuk and his crew still outside."
<OOC> Kelly says, "And you're down to four pirates plus the Devaronian."
<OOC> Harukuk is going to cover the crew entering the shaft, then try to follow. (I don't care *what* you smell, you furry ape, get in there!)
<OOC> Kelly says, "Last one, eh? Okay."
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Captain's obligation. Besides, I'm the best able to take it. ;)"
The two sides have now closed to a range where seeking cover is vital for intended survival. Unfortunately, there's more of it for the pirates than for the escapees, all of whom have to take their turn climbing into the shaft.
<OOC> Kelly says, "Okay, roll."
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "There better be a damn corner somewhere in that shaft. :)"
<OOC> Kelly says, "Yes, and you just came to it."
<OOC> Harukuk will seek best cover he can and fire.
Harukuk rolls 2 dice: <4> 3
Harukuk pages: 9, this time. Dead average. ;)
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Does it T, or is it just a corner? :)"
<OOC> Kelly says, "Harukuk's shot hits the wall right by a pirate's head, making him flinch back and not take a shot of his own."
<OOC> Kelly says, "Just a corner so far."
<OOC> Kelly says, "OUCH. Harukuk, you're hit. Take 22 points against your STR."
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "OW."
Harukuk rolls 5 dice: <1> 2 4 3 3
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Oh, what a time for a one. Blowing cp... (Btw, you never gave me a chance to dodge, though it would have only been 1d+2)"
Harukuk rolls 1 die: <4>
Harukuk rolls 1 die: <3>
<OOC> Kelly says, "Good point. He rolled pretty high, you'd have still been hit."
Day-Lin scrambles around the corner as quick as he can, sparing a glance back to see how the rest of the group is doing.
<OOC> Harukuk nods. "Almost certainly, but I figured I should point it out for next time."
Harukuk rolls 1 die: <1>
Harukuk pages: 16, total.
The Devaronian takes aim at the Wookiee once again and fires, hitting the target squarely at last and wounding him.
<OOC> Kelly says, "Next round."
<OOC> Kelly says, "You are 'Wounded' (once)."
<OOC> Harukuk nods. -1 die, isn't it?
<OOC> Kelly says, "Yah. And you 'fall prone'."
<OOC> Kelly says, "I'll allow knees."
Behind Day-Lin, four dark shapes make their way up the shaft by whatever handholds are available. A fifth enters at the bottom before Avirida's progress forces Day-Lin on.
Avirida works her way around the corner, trying to keep her face from incidental contact with Day-Lin's heels.
<OOC> Kelly says, "Harukuk, a hint. Ranged combat is not your forte."
<OOC> Harukuk nods. I'll try to get up and struggle into the shaft, if everyone else is in. If not, ummm, whatever. ;) Yeah, but I think charging would be mildly on the suicidal side.
<OOC> Avirida says, "There are only five of them! ;)"
<OOC> Kelly says, "Not necessarily. Especially if you want to spend a force point. Now might be a good time."
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Ooooh, good point! Hadn't thought of that. Well, if everyone isn't in the shaft yet, I suppose I'll roar and charge, and spend a Force point."
Edrick's eyes widen as the Wookiee takes a bolt that would kill a lesser being and only drops to his knees. Meanwhile, the remaining pirates and crew trade shots. Most are wild, intended to make the others keep their heads down. A Dauntless crewer throws himself out of the path of a bolt as his friend returns fire, killing the pirate. Four, now.
Harukuk lurches to his feet, uttering a loud roar, and heedless of incoming fire, charges the horned alien.
<OOC> Kelly says, "Two actions, movement and a brawling attack?"
<OOC> Kelly says, "More actions? (Might be a good idea, while you're at it.)"
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Yeah, moving and at least one brawling attack. Let me look at the sheet to see if I can't smack him twice..."
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Heh. 5D strength doubles to 10D, -1 for wound, -1 for moving, that's still 8 dice. My dodge, when it becomes neccessary, will probably suck rocks, but I'll try to smack him twice. :) Three times would be excessive, would it?"
<OOC> Sabriel contemplates how many brawling attacks an enraged wookie with a force point could potentially make... eek. Now I know why C3P0 advised R2D2 to let the wookie win. :)
<OOC> Kelly says, "Probably. :)"
The Devaronian fires again as a wall of fur charges him with intent to maim (at the very least).
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Okay. So that's 7D for each attack (and 10D to soak damage, which is good, because my dodge is just 3D+2, its base level.)"
<OOC> Kelly says, "Going to declare a dodge?"
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Hmmm. It will take my brawling attacks down to 6D, which isn't really a bad thing. May as well take the reactionary dodge."
Harukuk rolls 3 dice: <5> 2 6
Harukuk pages: Not bad. 15.
<OOC> Kelly says, "Barely hits. :/"
<OOC> Harukuk says, "It happens."
<OOC> Kelly says, "S**t for damage, though..."
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Hey, if you think I'm gross, see what happens when the Jedi spends a force point and clobbers 3 people with his lightsaber. ;)"
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "We need force points to do that? :)"
The snap shot clips the enraged Harukuk, not even making him flinch.
Harukuk charges through the blaster bolt, barely singing his fur. Continuing the roar, he attempts to bring his fist down upon the Devaronian's head.
Harukuk rolls 6 dice: <5> 5 6 6 3 3
<OOC> Pira says, "Woo, angry wookie BAD :)"
<OOC> Avirida says, "Angry wookiee VERY Bad. :)"
Edrick reflexively holds up the rifle to parry the blow, but is swatted aside.
<OOC> Kelly says, "Roll your damage."
Harukuk rolls 10 dice: <1> 3 1 5 4 6 1 6 6 5
<OOC> Harukuk snickers. 31. I rolled a 1 on the wild die.
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Crunchy crunchy."
The pirate marksman is slammed to the deck with his head at a very unnatural angle.
<OOC> Harukuk still has another strike, should he not go down. I'll beg the GM's permission not to hit him again if he's knocked unconcious. ;)
<OOC> Kelly says, "Try 'dead'."
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Ah well. Can't be helped."
<OOC> Harukuk can shift his attack to someone else, taking a penalty die?
<OOC> Kelly says, "STR roll of 10, damage roll of 31, 21 points. Um... sure."
<OOC> Harukuk says, "We're still in peril, right?"
<OOC> Kelly says, "Yup."
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Okay. Brings it down to 5."
Harukuk rolls 5 dice: <6> 5 1 2 3
Harukuk rolls 1 die: <3>
<OOC> Harukuk snickers. Rolls a 6 on the wild die. Poor pirates.
Harukuk pages: 20, even.
Harukuk whirls and slams a massive paw into another pirate. No real grace, just raw power.
<OOC> Kelly says, "Damage."
Harukuk rolls 10 dice: <3> 6 2 5 4 1 3 4 4 1
Harukuk pages: 33. Eeek.
The pirate hits the wall spread-eagled and slides down it, the back of his head leaving a red smear. You distinctly heard several ribs break, too.
<OOC> Avirida says, "Is it just me, or does Harukuk do more damage than these guys' BLASTERS?"
<OOC> Kelly says, "With a FP, oh yeah."
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Even without, I'm even on a heavy blaster. ;)"
This brutal display breaks the morale of the last two pirates, and they make a run for it back down the corridor.
Harukuk pants for a moment, then very slightly unsteadily makes his way back to the shaft. He's barking something in Wookiee, and by his gesturing to the shaft its not terribly hard to guess what. His other arm is holding his side. ["There will be reinforcements soon. Move it!"]
Their own faces rather pale, Harukuk's crew nod and climb quickly into the air shaft.
Avirida keeps crawling after Day-Lin and trying not to get her nose broken for her.
The air duct is a very tight fit for Harukuk, and the pain from his wound doesn't help at all. But somehow he manages to squeeze in and follow the others.
Harukuk complains in a low growl, but painfully drags himself through.
Up ahead, Day-Lin passes a few grates that offer him glimpses of other parts of this level. At last he comes to another junction, with ducts running off in all four directions and with a shaft leading up as well, with rungs set in the side. The shaft goes up a long way, at least ten or twelve decks. In the small circle of light at the top, a fan spins.
Day-Lin stares up. And up. And up. "Oh, boy," he mutters.
Avirida catches up behind him, working her way through. "Which way do we go from here," she asks Sekk, with a mild tone of dread indicating her guess at the answer.
Sekk drags herself out of the shaft behind Avirida and points to the largest duct, the one leading up. "This shaft goes all the way to the top of the central sphere, and the base of the bridge tower. There is a turbolift there to take us the rest of the way."
<OOC> Sabriel | "Where do these stairs go?" "They go up." -- Ghostbusters.
Avirida leans her head back. Slowly.
The walls of the junction are a dully gleaming gray, with rows of maintenance lights picking out the entrance to each duct. This widening is about large enough for four at a time, or one cranky Wookiee. Thus, Harukuk finds it most comfortable to lie with his top half hanging out of the duct.
Sekk asks, "You all can climb, yes?"
Day-Lin says "Well, sure, but we're not going to be real energetic when we get there."
Sekk says, "We can rest at the top. I hope."
Avirida says "The sooner we get started, the more time we'll have for recovery."
Sekk turns her eyes on the Jedi, expectantly.
Day-Lin mutters something under his breath, and starts the climb.
Avirida sighs, and begins a little after Day-Lin, easing up. She leaves some space in between - tired heels had best not impact with face.
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Day-Lin's thinking, "You know, I should have paid more attention to those #@$(*#$ leaping lessons.""
<OOC> Avirida laughs.
Sekk follows Avirida, and then Koos and the other humans from the Dauntless.
Harukuk takes up the rear, extruding nasty-looking claws when necessary for gripping.
Although the walls of the shaft are smooth, the rungs provide easy foot and handholds. The real challenge is the length of the climb. The first four floors go by easy. After that, the artificial gravity seems to increase another notch for each meter advanced.
Avirida takes several seconds, around the eighth floor, just to hang in place and recover a moment. One moment starts to turn into two, and she pushes herself into moving again.
The blaster burn in Harukuk's side announces itself with every reach of his long arms above his head.
Day-Lin wheezes, "Okay...so...maybe these ships...aren't quite...as insecure...as I thought."
Harukuk's mood is certainly not light as he climbs, but he keeps his complaint to a soft growl.
As the ragged train of climbers approaches the top, the true scale of the ventilation fan becomes apparent. Its blades are each more than a meter long, creating a cool breeze blowing down the shaft as they spin.
Avirida leans her head against a rung. "Crack jokes... when we're finished."
Harukuk rumbles something back. Those that can understand take it to be something about not being in the mood for jokes. Those that can't understand can guess.
Finally Day-Lin reaches the uppermost rung, next to a grate looking out into an empty room.
Day-Lin eyes the gate, gauging its strength, and then decides better safe than sorry. He ignites his saber, slices through, and springs through into the room, blade at ready.
<OOC> Kelly says, "According to LucasArts, this is what playing (a) JEDI KNIGHT is all about. Crawling around in ducts and stuff. ;)"
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Come to the coast, we'll have a few laughs. Hah. Hah. Hah."
Avirida pulls herself up after. If he hasn't gotten shot at before she gets there, Day-Lin doesn't need someone to cover him anyway.
No one else is present as Day-Lin finds himself in what looks like a life-support substation. The loud hum of equipment makes it hard to hear anything else. Air bubbles upward through a row of clear blue treatment tanks. Something about the size and shape of an auto-wash churns to noisy life for a few moments, then stops.
Day-Lin says "Okay, now what?"
<OOC> Kelly says, "What Day-Lin finds striking about this room, as opposed to similar installations he's been to, is that it's all so CLEAN. Things on the Rim tend to be, shall we say, more casually maintained."
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Oh yes. :)"
Avirida pulls herself out behind him, carefully, clearing room for Nemoidian bodies.
Soon everyone has assembled in the small room. (It's nowhere near as confining as the ducts they just left, though.) A few minutes pass as everyone rests from the climb.
Sekk explains, "The lift is not far. Once we reach the bridge, you could rush in and take the pirates by surprise, as they did us."
Sekk looks at the aliens with weary confidence.
Day-Lin says "And probably get shot in the bargain. Let me see if I can see how many people there are out there."
Day-Lin reaches out through the Force, standing very still.
Day-Lin rolls 2 dice: <2> 5
The others in the room, with their tangled bright emotions and life-energy, can be felt easiest. As Day-Lin looks further out, he senses another pair of glows coming this way. Not friendly.
<OOC> Kelly says, "By the book, the range of Life Detection is only 10 meters. That's, um, almost useful. I'll play it my way."
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Doh."
Day-Lin's eyes flick open, and he moves to the door. "Someone's coming. Everyone ready?"
The frightened Nemoidians and tense crewmen find cover amidst the equipment. Fortunately, someone remembers to drag Koos out of sight.
<OOC> Kelly says, "I was tempted to say y'all left him down there, but I didn't mention him, so."
Day-Lin touches the door-opening panel.
Avirida crouches down as half-guard for Koos, her own blaster as ready as she can make it.
As the door opens, the conversation of the approaching parties becomes audible. "... said they were in the ducts, so we gotta check 'em all." "Hey, what's that?"
Day-Lin touches the panel again, flattening to one side of the door.
A few moments pass, then the door swishes open again. The muzzle of a blaster carbine pokes into the room cautiously.
Day-Lin attempts to amputate the carbine's muzzle neatly with his lightsaber.
Day-Lin rolls 6 dice: <2> 2 2 3 1 4
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Saving one die in case I need to dodge."
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "uh, block."
<OOC> Kelly says, "Fortunately, it's not too hard a target."
Sparks fly as Day-Lin's quick downward stroke slices off the end of the blaster, rendering it useless. "Look out!"
<OOC> Kelly says, "Actions?"
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Well, I already acted, soooo..."
<OOC> Avirida would like not to shoot Day-Lin. Thus she's waiting for a clear view. ;)
<OOC> Kelly says, "Well, the pirate is standing in the doorway. From where Day-Lin was standing, off to the side, all he saw was the carbine."
<OOC> Avirida says, "If I've got a clear shot, I shoot ;)"
<OOC> Kelly says, "Roll."
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Hence you have a wonderfully clear shot. To quote myself, you're welcome. :)"
Avirida rolls 2D+1 dice: <4> 4
The pirate is just stepping back when Avirida's shot hits her. She folds to the deck, staring up at the ceiling, half of a carbine landing next to her with a clatter.
A second pirate steps into the breach and fires blindly. His shot hits one of the treatment tanks, causing it to shatter with a gush of sharp-smelling chemicals.
<OOC> Kelly says, "Roll of, like, 5. :)"
<OOC> Avirida says, "Hey, do I know how hazardous those chemicals are? ;)"
<OOC> Kelly says, "Make a space trans repair roll, 5D."
Avirida rolls 5 dice: <6> 3 4 3 5
<OOC> Kelly says, "The stuff is poisonous to drink, or to breathe in an enclosed space, but it's just to scrub carbon dioxide from the air before it's recirculated."
An answering bolt from inside the room catches him in the shoulder and spins him around. He falls to the deck beside the first pirate, trying to bring his blaster pistol up.
<OOC> Kelly says, "New round."
<OOC> Day-Lin rolls perception for initiative:
Day-Lin rolls 4 dice: <1> 1 6 5
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Doh. Well, if I had to pick one to blow, it would be the initiative roll."
<OOC> Kelly says, "Everyone else roll init too."
<OOC> Avirida rolls that now. ;)
Avirida rolls 2D+1 dice: <4> 1
<OOC> Kelly says, "Actions?"
<OOC> Kelly says, "Harukuk, you there?"
<OOC> Avirida would like to shoot anyone visible through the doorway, while keeping cover, and while trying not to shoot Day-Lin. If Day-Lin gets in the way, she, er, doesn't do a whole lot. ;)
<OOC> Kelly says, "There's only the one (wounded) pirate, lying prone."
Day-Lin steps out at a slight angle, so he can see the pirate but doesn't block the interior firing angles. "I wouldn't do that, if I were you," he says, indicating the blaster pistol with the point of his saber.
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Yep. Hmmm. I'd like to disarm the wounded pirate, if possible. No, not rip his arms off. ;)"
<OOC> Avirida says, "Aww. ;)"
The pirate looks up at Day-Lin for a long tense moment, his face twisted in pain. His pistol wavers and finally drops to his side as he draws shallow, shocky breaths.
Day-Lin says "Good call."
Day-Lin waves one of the Nemoidians up. "Can you guys take care of this? We really have to get to the bridge."
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Plus, they're totally useless for anything else, so hey."
The wounded man leaves the pistol lying on the deck as he looks from Day-Lin to the body lying next to him. His good hand reaches out briefly to touch her hair.
<OOC> Sabriel sniffles.
At the Jedi's request, the Nemoidian crewman comes to assist with the prisoner. He is careful not to touch the discarded blaster.
Avirida's mouth tightens. "Careful about ventilation," she raps out instead. "The fumes aren't dangerous as long as you don't close this place up." She glances down to Koos. "I think you'll be staying here too, Ensign."
Koos shakes his head. "I can make it... just need to lean on someone." He tries to rise, and winces as pain from the leg wound spikes again.
Day-Lin doesn't stay to watch. He just asks, "Bridge?" and moves in the indicated direction.
Avirida lays a hand on Koos's shoulder. "I don't think we're getting someone to be leaned on. You stay here and keep off anybody who comes to find out why those two haven't reported back - and keep an eye /on/ those two, too." She checks to make sure he's being left with a weapon, and gets up to follow Day-Lin.
Sekk goes with Day-Lin to guide him, while the other two Nemoidians still with the group remain behind to look after the friendly and enemy wounded.
Koos nods reluctantly. "Aye, Chief."
<OOC> Kelly says, "So is Day-Lin always this... goal-oriented?"
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Oh, no, but three of his buttons are getting pushed at once here."
<OOC> Kelly says, "And which ones are they?"
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "(a) Pirates. An infestation particularly severe in the Rim. (b) The Nemoidians acting like pathetic losers who can't do anything but sit back and get shot; he hates people like that. (c) Being kept from getting on with this mission."
Leaner and more determined, led by the young Jedi Knight, the group of escapees makes its way to the base of the control tower. Sekk warns them as they reach the final turning.
<OOC> Kelly says, "Hmm. Sounds like you're acting on emotions rather than reason. Anger, in particular."
<OOC> Kelly says, "Heh. Heh. Heh."
<OOC> Avirida says, "Oh, no. ;)"
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "Plus, let's not forget the urge to demonstrate that he can handle this stuff without needing to be trained by any Jedi council. :)"

<OOC> Kelly says, "Cliffhanger!"
<OOC> Avirida says, "Aaaaagh!"
<OOC> Day-Lin says, "We've got to get poor Pira out of there, she's been locked up way too long."
<OOC> Sabriel hehs.
<OOC> Harukuk says, "Heh."
<OOC> Kelly says, "You just want to see if Big Jake's gotten her into a metal bikini yet."
<OOC> Avirida says, "No encouraging him. ;)"
