"My personal experience has been that unless the quality of the slides I'm using to submit to juried shows is good, I don't stand a chance of getting into the shows I'd really like to be in. Fine work that is photographed poorly looks like mediocre work and doesn't leave a strong impression on the jurors. Sometimes it seems like it's more about the photography and the 'punch factor' than the work itself: Unfortunate, but true... I've been shooting my own work for 12 years. I believe I produce slides and digital files of a quality that is competitive with the guys who are charging $100 per hour." Joe Davis |
