Public television can deepen a sense of community in local life.

It should provide a voice for groups in the community that may otherwise be unheard

It was designed to provide an opportunity for experimentation and innovation - an outlet for alternative viewpoints and perspectives.

Reduced funding for public broadcasting and several ill-advised policy changes have commercialized and centralized this precious resource.
