Meetings are held at the Brookings Presbyterian Church -
540 Pacific Ave. Brookings

The guild meetings for "Fun Day" activites during the day 10am to 4pm and Evening General Meeting at 6:30 (preceded by a social time at 6pm). We are an eclectic group of about 70 ladies who enjoy learning and sharing more about quilting. The highlight of the year is our quilt show held on Memorial Day weekend held at Kalmiopsis Elementary School in conjunction with the annual Brookings Azalea Festival. Activites during the year vary depending on the interests of the current members and have included Block of the Month programs, Mystery Quilts, Round Robins, and a host of other fun things. We take a bus trip to a "big" quilt show every other year, and car pool to some of the closer ones. We invite you to visit if you are in the area.

Virginia Lowry    541/523-3038
Mary Jane Hackwith   541/523-3752
24428 Keating Grange Lane, Baker City, OR 97814

Founded about 18 years ago we do quilt classes doing the same quilt pattern but in our own personal colors, we do mystery quilts. For charity We work together making lap and baby quilts for the local nursing homes, Racheal Center, that helps unwed mothers and Mayday that helps with abusive situations. We put the quilt show on every year providing our community with a chance to see what the community produces. We have fun and quilt for the love of quilting. Sometimes as a group, we go on shop hops, retreats, and other quilt shows. We invite any newcomer to the area to join us every Wednesday from 8 am to 2 pm except the week of the quilt show and the month of August. We bring our machines or we do hand work. We have alot of hand appliquér's and hand quilters with but a few that only piece by machine. We encourage everyone to try appliquéing by hand at least once and if they don't like it or can't do it we forgive them. Our motto is to be versatile but love doing what you do. Anyone interest in joining our group or wanting more information about our quilt show give us a call.

Dayton
Blockhouse Quilters
DAYTON
The Dayton Blockhouse Quilters are probably the most informal group in the state. We started by a couple of women in Dayton putting on a quilt show a couple of years ago. They took names of others who were interested in quilting and a group started meeting once a month for 2 hours. We have no officers, no organization, no dues and no business meetings. Meetings also wander both in day, time and place depending upon what we need or want to do.
We did a raffle quilt in 1999 and bought Christmas street decorations for the city of Dayton.
We did a second raffle quilt and quilt show in 2000 and a third in 2002.
In-between we visit and go on a couple of quilt shop tours every year.
There are only 5 regular members and 2 or 3
who wander in every now and then.

If someone is interested, we use Debra Lien at the Dayton City Hall as our outside contact (503-864-2956) or Claire Christenson. Other City Hall staff usually know what we're doing too.
We don't know if we're "regular" enough to be listed
in this Oregon Guilds page!
