Third Wednesday Song Circles

If you like to sing all types of folk songs, come give the Song Circle a try.  The May song circle will be held this Wednesday, May 6th, from 7 to 9 PM at the home of Don Baldwin at 2263 37th St in Springfield (map).  His phone number is 736-5180.  For more information call Jerry Wood at 461-3786.

Blago Scholarship Fund

EFS members may apply for scholarships to dance camps, music camps, or workshops up to a maximum of $50 will be given per event.  More information and application.

EFS Contra Dances

EFS puts on contradances at Ceasar Chavez School, 1510 W 14th (Map) on 2nd and 4th Saturdays through the school year. (Sept thru June).

Saturday, May 10th: Dance a Little Longer - Special 12 hour dance Aniversary dance!!!

Help us celebrate The Eugene Folklore Society's 30th aniversary!!!  Noon to Midnight!  Three great bands, three great callers, plus Scandinavian dancing and lots and lots of fun.  And it's called "Dance A Little Longer..."

The event will be held at our regular place: Cesar Chavez School at 14th and Chambers. Beginning at noon, each band and caller will play for 3 1/2 hours, with a 45 minute break between sets. And there will be Scandinavian dancing with live music during the breaks. This will be quite a day:

noon to 3:30   Jigsaw from Portland with David Kaynor from Massachusetts calling
3:30 to 4:15   Break, Scandinavian Dancing David Kaynor will play Scandinavian tunes for your dancing pleasure
4:15 to 7:45   The Nettles from Corvallis with Laura Me Smith from Seattle calling
7:45 to 8:30   Break
8:30 to midnight   KGB from Seattle with Woody Lane from Roseburg calling

Dancing begins at noon and ends at midnight.  Lots of time for great music, great dancing, and lots of fun.  This will be an event to remember!

There will be a finger-food potluck throughout the day at the hall, and everyone is encouraged to bring goodies.  Parking will be easy and available.  Housing will also be available for out-of-town guests.

The costs are quite reasonable:
$20 at the door for EFS members, and also for members of other folklore societies including CDSS.
$22 for Non-Members.
$15 for students who show their student IDs.
$20 Advance Registration

Advance Registration will guarantee admission, especially important for dancers traveling from other cities.  Advance Registration checks of $20 should be payable to EFS and mailed to: Barbara Boylan, 1450 Quaker Street, Eugene, OR 97402. Barbara's phone number is 541-345-8903.  Include your address, phone number, and email address so we can send you a confirmation.  The publicity flyer also contains an Advance Registration form at the bottom of the flyer.

Membership
