SOLUNAR GROWING PLANTS - GARDENING
by moon & sun cycles with elements & syns phases
to maximize fertility & production
Solunar gardening is ancient practice by growers on all continents of spaceship earth. It's a tradition of wisdom of observing the sun & moon cycles relative to planting & growing cycles to harvest phase. So we follow the cosmic system, trusting our evolving universe to help influence growing our food & crops. It's even applied to some natural animal care. Of course most plant in spring when the sun asending, days longer than nites, after the spring Equinox. But in very warm, greenhouse & sprouting places, the sunshine is less needed than plentiful water, soil fertility & lovenergy=green heart & thumb, the plants love to grow more with*.
Our planting in temperate zones differs from the tropics where most plants grow all year. So it helps greatly to plant according to moon cycles during the winter months anywhere & otherwise if you want abundant crops. The 2 sun cycles we follow are: waxing spring time, daily day/nite & the monthly zodiac shift of sun/earth syns. The sunsyn is always opposite the earth syn, like the full moon is always opposite the sun-syn for 2+days.
The critical moon phases are waxing after the new moon:
the 1st & 2nd 1/4 moons, up to full moon, then waning moon of 3rd & 4th moon 1/4s, to the no/new moon cycle. Waxing & waning moons activate & slow down the sap inside the plants growing up. Some variations in moon cycles are the arch of moon in sky, hi or low, & nearness to earth (apogee & perigee=far) both effects its energetic power on fluidynamics of flow in all living & water systems: tides, bleeding, sexing, birthing, emotions & work energy. Some like to plant in the morning or under moon in sky, depends on how solunar waves are there?!

SUGGESTIONS FOR PLANTING IN WAXING MOON stimulates
sap & water, New moon to full moon, the 1 & 2 1/4s = 2 weeks
New moon 2+ days good for deciding: preparing soil, getting seeds &
tools, cleaning & sorting growth related needs, resources & spaces
*13+ days: Plant above-ground-crops, annuals, herbs flowers & most
trees, seeds, starts, transplanting & grafting
*Bestime: during moon in water syn: Cancer, Scorpio, Pices
Sun in earth: Tarus & water: Cancer, depending on seasons
+Good time: earth syns & Libra-air syn
COMPOST/mulch will rot faster during waxing & warm months
Cutting & pruning will stimulate growth then

FULL MOON 2+ DAYS - good to harvest when ripe, do big projects
celebrate, work play parties, gatherings, rituals, loving

WANING/fadding moon - last 2 (3 & 4) 1/4s Full to New moon
slows down growth, work energy, emotions & sap flow
Plant root crops & bulbs, Compost rots slower then
Best: water syns & earth syns, sun & moon (except tropics)
Cutting & pruning slows/stunts growth from waning
Drying food & greens happens faster, if warm
Last 1/4 - ending moon best for digging, weeding, copicing, mulch
NO=DARK MOON 2+ days (B4) new moon & sun in same syn
The slowest, quietest & most internal introspecting cycle
Good for planning garden, designing a bed, orchard, group space
resting, meditating, quiet playing, healing, retreats, aiming,
like the retrograde planet cycles: slow down forward growth
COMPOSTING is good to pile, layer, cover, turn whenever you do
keeping it moist & warm inside to cook plants into new soil

*SOLAR CYCLES - depends mostly on sun & weather in your area
Aries (fire)spring/Apr. in north/Libra in so hemisphere best for land-
(Apr) prep & planing new growing projects, start, fix, animals out?
Tarus May (earth)- best for planting root crops, trees, soil prep for vegi
(May) water prep, garden foundations, walls, trenches, posts, burms & swales, indoor seed starts to move out in warm soil, cold-frames, greenhouse, etc
Gemini /air-June, hands-on detail work, planting most summer vegies
Cancer/water - July,plant late summer/fall vegies, fertile = warm & wet

AIR & FIRE syns: Libra, Aquarius & Gemini; Aries, Leo & Sagitarius
moons good for warm flowers & hot spices, peppers, tomatos, etc
Burning also works to solunar cycles: air & fire syns burn fast/hot
water & earth syns burn slower, depending on temp/wet
