PC Permaculture KEYS TO MAXI-FERTILIZING SOILS boosting soil fertility grow more food organically

In PC we use natural-soil-amendment(ferts) to grow more food faster with less work & cost. The best ferts to add to soil before planting are: well- digested local organic compost(food scraps, grasses without seed, etc), range fed animal manuer & worm castings. The key ingredients to fertile soil are: humus = organic matter, balanced pH(acid -base); hi mineral content & living bacteria to digest them, so plant roots can absorb nutrients.
The perfect soil fert mix formula/combination is based on-site soil fertility testing before amending it. The amendments will digest when wet/damp & warm, waiting patiently latent to awaken with warm sun & rains. Adding minerals to soil is best before planting, or top-dressing on soil base, to disolve into root zone after planting. In eco-zones of hi clay, alkaline, minerals, sandy or cinder soils need amendments especially of humus, compost, green matter, manuer, etc, to maximize growing potentials. Clay or hard pan soils will need digging or plowing to loosen up soil for rooting down, then add ferts according to growing needs.

ON site combining ferts is best using the ingredients we collect to energize soils. The concentrations of biochemicals, bacteria & minerals balance is essential to local soil & climate needs. There’s an infinite variety of soil combos we can have on land & create with amendments. It’s also possible to damage plants with wrong mix or excess potent minerals &or guano. So we do simple soil testing before buying & applying any ferts. However its good to gather manuer, compost & mulch anytime, to use later, as it digests making soil & increasing fertility.
Mulching can fertilize soil as it composts over soil into roots of the plants.
Its easy to use local weeds for mulching, if they have no seeds to sprout up.
We do Top dressing ferts on plants soil base anytime after planting to raise the fertility, especially after a long or heavy rain storm that washes away soil nutrients. Also folier spraying seaweed solution & other ferts is done on leaves after planting to boost growing, like with “sonic bloom”.
Sensitive Timing & testing to learn micro-climate fertility
Some growers test soil biochemically 1-3x/year during growing seasons, to maximize producing with certain ferts. We can simply test by learning what grows where & amending there. After a few growing seasons we can know what ferts are needed. We also test the potency of org. seeds by planting them in varied soil mixes. The ashes of natural wood fire is great to add for minerals content as needed. Powder minerals will disolve faster than granules slow releasing their power over months or years afterwords.
It’s great to make worm- casting soil at home with organic food & farm scraps & add them to home compost, manuer & soil piles if they haven’t invaded already. We also plant & grow NFT/Ps Nitrogen Fixing Trees/Plants to collect N into roots & soils it builds while growing rapidly. Most beans & nuts are NFTs that enhance soil fertility, in natural cycles. Its also great to add fresh or composting seaweed/kelps that add minerals to soils. However we need to wash salt off any kelp before adding it to soil, that needs to be little acid.
If soil is too acidic we can add rock-dust, dolomite/lime or yang/salty seaweed to balance it for growing plants. Animal poop is potent natural fertilizer if composted so it integrates into soil, we may mix with organics before applying it. Fertilizing is usually a test, unless we’ve perfected our local growing cycles within soil-contents & ferts formulas we know how to maximize growing up.
Human poop works well for building soil with compost, if you have a composting toilet or completely burry it a few in, in well draining soil, under a tree. For many centuries China has used human poop composting to build soil fertility! Its hily valued as natural local free fertilizer at home, like animal poop/manuer is also, by millions of sustainable growers now on earth in traditional cultures, Permaculture homesites & eco-villages now. The simple primal global trend makes our modern sewage treatment system appear uneeded, expensive & wasteful. Now some cities do make fertilizer with human sewage, but it contains other more toxic chemicals.
We also add human compost to other fertilizers to up growing potency.
