MILLIONS of modern families fear the newage (Aquarian Conspiracy - M. Ferguson, MegaTrends - J.Nessbitt; & The Third Wave - A.Tofler). alternative movements real of freedom. The conservatives consider the ecology' & enviornmental' movements of tree-huggers, organic gardening, eating & self healing to be hippy, 'socialist, pagan, perverts or newage plots to take their kids away by brainwashing in schools, mass-media, the streets & homes of wild shameless anarchists. This is culture-clash, class warfare & paranoid bias projections at any threatening programs in schools & parks, communities & communes. They often fear instinctual, emotional or psychic changes that kids may like, need or choose, so different than parents family-values! It was NIxon, Reagan & most Repulicans speaking clear bias, laws & policies at these 'evil' megatrends of liberating youth freedoms of expression & choice. They may even hate natural, organic & free feelings, goals & potentials of evolving openly or naked, touching or bonding-together. Any reason to justify controlling the minor/youth by officials, adults & educators fears!
The sacred cows of conservative families rant & rage against the liberal trends & radical movements they fear will change, dominate or hurt them. They may feel scared of 'green' education seducing their youth(inner child or property?) to conform to pagan living, total recycling, camping out or organic gardening. They have similar reflexes & resistence to democratic classroom decisions, magic circle sharing feelings, & cooperative games, not 'god fearing activities banned from most public schools.
They complain about the 'liberal' (idealistic) 1992 UN "Declaration of Children's Rights" to safety, support, respect, education, good health care & some equality, as prayer/religion & US Constitution are not in classrooms. Their 'poor-me/victim' bias, blames radical/green/socialist activists plots to convert their children(our nation?) into peaceful non-punishing parenting.
In the Sept.'97 Oregon Observer(a liberatarian monthly)they are against the 'family resource centers' providing services, support groups & child care all seem dangerous to them. Many fear policies of officials preventing punishment they use to train kid's responsibililty/obedience to adult authority & laws.
Similar to "Healthy STart' programs of prenatal screening of young stressed pregnant moms in hospitals, that examine their causes & effects of abuse to prevent further child-abuse/neglect after birth in the critical bonding phase. They often assert(tho guilty?) rights to punish children like they were. This parental privilage is projected at the state Family Resource Centers that aim & work to make 'peace-at-home' by serving medical/drug? needs for security.
So these conservatives critisize & organize to influence it in the legal system.
I've been doing HomEd since 1971 & promoting Kids-Lib since early '80s in NW USA, & networking nationally & globally from Hawaii. Now most home-schoolers reject the state standard tests of achievment over independent learners at home & elsewhere. We may agree with conservatives on this, for different reasons & results. What's more important is, what peace at home, natural environments, honest equality & creative options are offered by parents for kids to choose, sharing in family decisions, needs & resources? We tend to share more, with like minded home learners & mother nature, than focus on the laws, schools, crime & government agencies, to insure our freedom to learn in joy as curiosity, interest & inspiration let us trust urges to cooperate now
Their ‘agist’ conspiracy against children is ancient & a still popular prejudice, combined with sexism, racism, fear, classism, etc for controlling, training & educating children to grow up good. For example the popular child immunization-movement by AMA medicine is a chemical injection crutch to HOOK & keep U$ using & paying allopathic doctors., even insured. Immunizations are very controversial ‘needs’ now, as our natural health movement realizes how the ‘shots’ usually reduce the victim/childs natural immunity, like antibiotics that kill off essential inner bacteria. This medical fad since WW2 has hooked millions of U$ on the big medical sciences shots of savior plots.
In Oregon in '80s i was on live TV TownHall talk-show where a baby was 'stolen' by welfarefrom a rad Christian (spiritual healing) family to treat a none-fatal tillness. They finally got custody weeks later after much more protest & support for family rights to treats diseases. This public policy to protect our good health by 'medical' laws, exists while we pollute our natural bodies deep feelings we forgot. We have 100s of good reasons for medicine & manners, to keep busy, buy taste, be good & treat mysterious diseases that attack U$, The natural family liberation movements mostly reject shots, & use herbs or other natural remedies: minerals, Chinese, homeopathy, fasting, massage, baths, sunshine, etc.
One 'secret epidemic' is the damage immunization(& most drugs) have on young children, who are more sensitive than most urbane adults. I know a baby boy thats got shot (weeks after a C-section birth) & screamed violently in pain for a WHOLE HOUR, after he got home. In the 1,980s the damage was so common & protested that the US Congress was persuaded to estalish a new agency to pay damage$ to parents whose children(victims) died or were badly hurt by the shots. This was so NO medical negligence law suits would occur to give them BAD PR in court. The damage (side effects) to children from many 100s of medical treatments: surgery, chemo & radiation therapies were exposed in '80s at home & in the alternative/free press underground, with many family sovereignty movement trends, making critical health decisions by parents & freinds for medicine or nature cures.
Other ‘secret epidemics’ of child-abuse & neglect of our natural needs are both hidden & outfront for any to see: nurses at school, conflicts & sexy in markets, & massmedia selling youth & spraying poisons in yards, parks, play-grounds, etc. Kids Libers have tried to reform & naturalize some morals & law's prejudice against children (minors) like: curfew, run-aways, drop outs , status offender & punk "deliquent crimes", for doing what adults do legally. The compulsory school attendence & immunization laws vary, loose to strict in enforcing students/family compliance. But most city Kids made to hurry(& wait)grow-up/mature too soon, yet not get or have will, initiative or legal-responsibility for self, property or civil rights. Aquarian parents respect their youth, so we offer 100s of options to children to choose what they like, need, love & decide. The worst side of family wars are secret emotional & sexual abuses, besides the normal damages from toxic technology, hyper-traffic & over- processed (junk)foods.
The few famous hyper publicity 'abuse' cases hasn't changed most family court' the rulings to keep parents in control, often ignoring abuse & nelgect damages, civil rights to equal access & choice. Its also tragic that our ‘youth(image, innosense & excitment) worshipping & selling’ culture ignores the childspirit, while using pop fashion fads to make kids obey, be sqeeky clean & modest (without natural instincts) for proud parents approval games of praise & prizes, promises & shame & punishment.
Some of the social control games we grew up under like: romance of the big boy, macho He man' & the cute delicate Barbie doll girl are avoided to allow & encourage kids to relate openly, honestly & express their real needs to friends & family. We also love natures cycles of weather, sun, moon & stars, plants & animals growing together. Organic gardens are great teachers & ECO providers of food & herbs & natures beauties of micro to macro cooperating magic mix of the 4 elements. Even Aquarian astrology help newage families to appreciate our unique cosmic imprints, talents, Karma & potential now.
Cooperative parents dynamics reject how most children are demanded & fashioned by classy 'responsible parents' to conform to 'social needs', which often creates power struggles & stress. even identity crises, illness, run-aways & suicide. So peaceloving parents are needing & seeking natural solutions to these problems without officials, experts & big science laws & orders, morals & fears. We need to trust our feelings & instincts, skills & agreement to belong in family, help out & be healthy. So homebirthing & bonding are natural ways to be simply peaceful at home or wherever. This helps us prevent, understand or even solve the common child ills of: colic, anxiety, infections/colds, allergies, hyperactivity, tantrums, conflicts, excess attention seeking; helpless victim, sexploring peers, normal addictions, sex-role playing & fears. However the more mysterious problems of youth like: ........................(are harder to solve)
SIDS(crib death); refusing nursing, extreme panic, insomnia & nitemares, rebelling run-aways, body deformaties, bad vision, fatal ills & accidents, identity crises, hate & rage, retarded/autism, revenge & suicide, abusing siblings, learning problems, psychic & healing :dreams, visions & abilities, like reading minds, ones birth, pregnancy or ? Its also a normal patterns for kids to loose psychic sensing about 3 to 5 yrs old as parents train them to obey, be nice & grow up to attend church & school.
We usually think of screaming/cussing, beating & knocking, neglect & isolation as 'child-abuse', which was revealed in millions of children by the family war victims intense 'recovery & healing awareness & work' to be whole & healthy. So radical psychology, bodywork & loving has & is helping our soul seeking honesty, balance & love of family, nature & spirit. This also grows with our 2nd deeper childhood that our kids love when we play openly with them now. So its politically correct for newagers to agree to be peaceful in parenting now.
Millions of families use far more positive ways than negetive threats in parenting & educating children. Positive encouragment, redirecting, time-outs, offering creative choises & asseting ones needs are more peaceful family needs now. Child abuse is both subtle & dramatic, secret & big business. of many socialwork agencies serving, rescuing & treating kids needs not filled at home by family. However well defined, exposed, warned or accounted for 'child abuse' is, it's mostly hidden at home, in chemo-poisons, allergies & radiation pollution prejudice & prison/rooms of fear now.
Americans do less heavy abuse punishment, torchure & child slavery now,. but often replace it with pop-child-psychology or hi-tech tricks & treats to tempt them away from mother natures raw-powers, 'in danger'needing overprotection" The many outdoor recreation programs for kids helps them somewhat, more if they can use those scouting, camping & creative arts at home by self pacing.
I call ‘agism’ the AAAS= Assumed Adult Authority System of ordering children around, because they are dependent upon U$ for survival & direction. The great success of hi-tech progress in1900s & mostly since WW2 gives parents great wealth to proudly $pend on their children, wearing masks of serious happiness while drowning in toxic affluence. Us radicals who describe or complain about simplifying the ‘excess-success’ of western materialism are the witches of newagism to the ideal American nitemare family. Happy hippies for wild freedom, nursing babies anywhere & feeling the emotions we were forbidden, reasoned or bribed out of real deep centering.
The international business plot is to educate or enslave millions of children is our ‘public schools’of corperate competition for grades, jobs & $. This spawned the free-school movement in '60s & '70s, when homeducation became a family Lib need & trend. So a few million of us are doing ‘home-leaning to learn how the world & nature works, without competing for grades & strokes. In 1970s we began communes & communities learning naturally, as John Holt instigated "Teach You Own" & Growing Without Schooling network to connect families & resources nationally & locally, that's still growing. This uses the freedom & flexability at home to love learning & growing by self pacing organically.
However there’s also the hyper parents homeschooling with hi-tech &/or the 'nice Christian' approach of puritan morals, even more controlled than ‘liberal’ education. The 3rd newage approach is private schooling now in the Montessori, Waldorf & other semi-free schools. The growing ‘freeschool’ movement of 60s & 70s has mostly faded into the 3 above trends, as many homeschooled kids are now back-in public & private schools they chose, over learning at home. But how many 100,000 of parents pay (enforced)taxes to school they're kids don't attend??
The home-learning practice often begins in organic home birthing & bonding, healing, arts & crafts, that’s the most natural empowering process of free work & play on earth. However the conspiracy against homebirthing by the AMA MDs is epidemic, even tho many midwives now do birthings at home, in birth centers & even hospitals. One national ‘secret epidemic’ are hospital birth tramas, which average 10 tramas/’normal’ birth, with a 20-30% c-secrion rate in most hospital births. In NM nurses have refused to assist MDs in circumsizing baby boys penises, in a Santa Fe hospital, the city where MOthering magazine lives.
In Europe most births are with midwives, & have far-more natural energy & less trama than U$ birthings. The modern trends of child-abuse & neglect are well documented & analyzed by many victims & therapies in our needed ‘recovery’ movements doing healing work of our old tramas. The many 12 Step programs are introducing, mostly addicated adults, to trusting the spirit of God, learning the infinite combinations unique to each one, as a magical child. Play therapy for & with kids needing emotional support has grown alternatives to drugging troubled youth so common now in public schools, Ritalin stoned conform to the rules. This has pressured many parents to seek counseling & alternative education.
The natural & democratic parenting movements are slowly growing more trust, equality & cooperation with children herenow. This was begun by Rudolf Dreikurs(from A.Adler)in U$ in '50 & 60s becoming P.E.T. & S.T.E.P trainings on family democracy & social equality. However it takes a relearning of our normal competitive civilized childhood to let kids play free & learn with them in the present. Here’s some of the negative trips we use or avoid to control/train children now with tools of: pacifiers, baby bottles, plastic clothes, bed & furntiture; academic schools; cars & buses & motorcycles on busy (deadly) streets traffic; medical clinic drugs & surgery & most electronics & motors are stressing bodies & polluting spaces. Publifc schools, most (pro)sports & business systems, are competitive, preventing voluntary cooperation. The power toys of:plastic animals & war toys; remote controls, TV, video & computer games; pop fashion, collecting new junk;
Processed food: sugar-candy, homo-milk & ice-cream, red meats, salted nuts & cannned foods, wheat-bread-flours & chemical food additives that millions of kids are allergic to & don’t know that they cause diseases problems like: colds, asthma, skin stress & other problems. Eating tasty(fast junk) food as entertainment, bribes & rewards is avoided by positive redirecting behavior into creative choices & outlets we offer currently.
M.McLuhan(Understanding MEdia) claims that excess TV(x-ray) watching can cause dislexia & eye/vision problems, that are treated with glasses to correct vision, wearers become dependent on, like other medicines. However the anti' war-toy' peace movement has only succeeded at home, as there's still extreme violence on TV & in most movies, cartoons & many competitive sports. Not to detail how TV robs kids of creative imagination.
There’s a new field of medicine called ‘medical ecology’ which tests & treats the secret-epidemic of environmental-illness allergies that afflicts millions of U$ in hi-tech life styles & polluted places. However they may not seek or find the original cause of the disease in family conflicts, fears, diet-habits or toxic spaces. Many natural & organic healers will research ones lifestyle to learn the sources of stress & eliminate them to purity, rebalance & naturalize ones life. Parents can easily do this with children, if not addicted to the same treats or sources of toxins, therefore excusing them with good-reasons & blaming other enemies: germs, bugs, TV, friends, cold, wet weather, etc for problems they 'need' safety rules, nets & enforcements.
Another family soverignty movement is parents & childrens making decisions of natural self & spiritual healing at home, in nature & groups alternativemunes of healing. 1,000s of kids have been abducted for family doing self-healing, so most hide these methods from cops, welfare, MDs. Now there are 1,000s of custody battles of parents trying to get those kids back home.
The tuff-love (Dobson)tactics of making kids wrong, scared & submit are still popular with abused & neglected parents passing on the "right way" with bribes & rewards(behavior mod), threats & punishment to control kids into modest manners & obedience. The normal emotions in families of: envy & jealousy, shame & hiding sex, body parts & fluids; praise & pride, overdressing, hyper- easoning by adults backfire at certain stages of kids will for free independence. Hospital birth tramas are quickly forgotten, while training/enforcing fears of: crime, traffic & pervert warnings; moneytime demands, lies & sins, guilt & regret, etc. Normal indoorism fears of: eco/nature, micro/germ & psycho/emotion fobias work to tame kids WILL, unless we explore with innosent curiosity promoting full growing with nature's cycles, creatures & weather that empower us freely.
The newage child-custody field is hi-stressed & has much cooperation. For example: 1,000s of families are sharing the custody of children of common seperation & divorce by agreements. While 1,000s are struggling in custody battles in courts paying $1,000 in legal fees & suffering conflicts over 'correct parenting'. I’ve been involved in some custody battles & some cooperating 'shared custody' families, so know how vast & problematic, or cooperative these can be, when trust connects the children. Some of U$ think that family control by laws is a conspiracy to keep U$/them dependent on jobs & markets & afraid of many things: cops, crime, streets, enemies, nature, etc.
