As price of fuel oil & all things made of & shipped on gas/oil rise (plastics, coils, solvents,  glue,  paint,  cars,  planes,  dishes,  bottles,  clothes,  rope,  medicine,  airlines,  furniture,  appliances,  boats,  housing,  tools,  toys,  dolls,  packaging,  disks,  electronics,  jewelry,  bedding,  bag,  frig,  cards,  etc.) conservation & efficiency = doing more with less; recycling/reusing/ repairing will replace buying ever new goodies & treats. 

 

The eco friendly folks are localizing our life needy faster as goods costing more we can do it ourselves.   HereÕs some trends if seen & done since 1970s when the first energy crisis of oil wars began & ecology movement surged in US>

 

People with grassy lawn yards mow them less or not, so grass grows tall & seedy, irritating classy neighbors.  Lawns die from not enuf rain or city water rationed during hotspell/drout cycles. 

 

Neighborhood free-stores, recycling centers, swap shops, stores, garages, station sprout up in poor & resourceful communities, & giving away surplus, on driveways & lawns.

 

Community gardens dug up pavements & & lawns, planted in parks, school ground, churches yards, riverside, fairgrounds, dried up wetlands, for growing food.  Victory gardens planted by volunteer teams in neighborhood yards for homers & sharing with neighbors,.using compost for fertility.

 

Local garden seed swaps, in spring for planting & fall for saving seeds for next years planting for growing food in gardens & small farms, herb & tree starts

 

Weekly Farmers & grower markets in communities where local home grown natural & organic food is sold by farmers cheaper without packaging.

 

Alter plots of food growing in greenhouses, domes, on sod roofs, in pots, shelves & tables, porches,  sunny south sides,

 

Grey (reuse) & rainwater harvesting, collecting, saving, &or storing for home using in for watering gardens, washing, cleaning & filtering to drink.

 

Energy conserving Ð in offices, business, homes, government & schools voluntary turning off lights & heater at nite & when not being used.

 

Self heating in winter Ð when oil/gas/energy prices rising fast, using wool clothes, exersize, yoga, dancing, massage, jogging, bicycling, chopping fire-wood,  deep breathing, cayenne, garlic, cold water, singing, cuddling, winter gardening, sexualove, inversion, southside greenhouse & composting space heating

 

Home made solar hot water heaters & storage, small turbo windmills,  in house heat pumps, 12 VDC current replacing 120V AC, is far more efficient energy.
