In '98 we Americans organic food buyers successfully resisted the giant new U$DA proposed law to label many toxic foods as 'organic' in U$ markets. We sent nearly 300K protest letters to sustain our hi organic food standards, rejecting: GE foods, pesti/herbicides on crops, chemicals & human sewage in fertilizers; factory animals often drugged for more meat & dairy. The growing natural health movement has asserted our rights to certify, label & truely know 'organic foods' we can trust.

Now GE foods are being pushed massively by Monsanto who makes Round Up(herbicide poison), BGH cow steroids & risky 'terminator seeds' for soybeans, corn, canola oil & more. Their seeds are usually patented to protect them from copy or 'mis-use' by anyone. But they can't protect other fields & species from stay genes that can mutate nearby fertile plant(& animal?) cycles rooted in symbiotic bacteria, water & mineral balance. They now agressively push GE foods on farmers & markets, usually not labelled honestly, & have many health hazards not yet openly researched for effects on humans & local bioregions species. of plants & animals. Many poorly tested & yet approved(thru bribery?) chemicals have proven deadly since world war 2.

Monsanto is the giant trillion $ multinational corp that aims to control the world food/seed markets. They've bot up many small seed companies(monopoly?) , that used to sell fertile seeds; like family farms have faded under big wealthy pressure to sell-out to factory farming. The risks of GE foods causing cancer & mutating other species is growing fast in UK & Europe. In England there's been eco-warriors that have attacted & even burned some GE fields, they claim endanger local organic crops, as do chemicals sprays that drift & nitrogen fertilizers that run into water table below. So some food markets & governments are banning the GE foods, to protect their farms & peoples health thru food now.

So we demand fair open honest labelling of all GE foods in markets, & not-be-used in organic foods. A national grass- roots campaign is now growing to require GE labeling since the spring of '98. It compliments our natural 'right to know' with informed concent to buy pure foods that effect our health; which is required of drug makers now. But not at all on most commercial fresh shipped produce & most packaged food. Even the stores workers don't know where it was grown, what's in it & how healthy it is now! Ignorance by policy for profit by big science.

GE plants produce non-fertile pollen, that fails to produce fertile seed. Its also programed to produce a Bt-(bacillus thuringiensis) biotoxin, that's mutated with new genes that resists some pests/bugs/fungus. Some GE soybeans are made to repell toxic "Round UP" herbicide; & even require some chemicals, that the GE seed makers sell. They call GE 'trade-secret' patents, like other food additives, not labeled to consumers; because they fear 'informed concent' of the truth of processing & contents in fair open testing & LABELS may kill their market domination dreams. U$DA, FDA & EPA have approved dozens of GE seeds being grown under MASS (risky) conditions, merging directly into the food gene pool & peoples bodies.

They aim to get farm & markets hooked on infertile seed crops that grows big, fast & cheaper (they claim) to promote pretty food, that lasts on the shelf & makes huge profits. Plants maybe programed to depend on chemicals. GE foods have invaded a dozen countries, to hook their agri-biz, like they did on chemo-fertilizers & toxins in the 'green revolution' that's poisoned our waters & food. GE foods are invading a growing %s of our corn, soybean, canola oil & cotton; potatoes & squash, cherry tomato & chicory root markets. GE & non-GE foods are often mixed together, especially the grain/beans/flours & oils.

Will the new chemical structure of these new GE see/food products cause any more allergies in very sensitive people??. Those big 3 GE foods are in 100s of modern food products, & now canola oil is being attacted, claimed to have some toxic dangers revealed by recent research now. What kinds of food contain these: canola oil, corn chips, syrup, sugar, margarine, starch, flour, dogs, fried; Soy-beans: oil, ice-cream, soymilk, margarine, miso; fake meats: tempe & tofu. The food battle of choices between quantity & quality, looks & nutrition, speed & purity, profit & honesty rages on. Organic food is the fastest growing food industry in the western world in U$ & slower in Europe in '90s.

The 'label GE foods' campaign includes educating the food consumers about GE causes & effects, & organic food benefits.

We also aim to stop GE foods by groundswell movement of fully informed shoppers & gardeners that save fertile seeds to plant.

The 'organic growing' movement has multipled a 100 times in last 15 years since it began with Rodale farming & large Rajneesh organic farm in '82 to '85 in Oregon. That's where modern 'organic standards evolved from Oregon Tilth, thru certified OG in California & out to states & national rules. We must protect our food farm purity & healthy quality we eat.
