Ex-Drummer Bill Berry Ex-Drummer Bill Berry says ...

"Halfway through the tour we were so burned out by it that we were just on stage going through the motions. We really felt we were robbing the audience of what they deserve. We were playing in arenas a little larger than we were comfortable with and the whole thing was pretty depressing." ... about their 1989 touring experience.

Guitarist Peter Buck Peter Buck says ...

"I have no interest in doing the stadium thing anymore, I don't think we're going to do that again. Whatever we do in the future will be kinda like this, small places." ... at the small venue club Borderline, in London, doing the Bingo Hand Job show in early 1991. (We're lucky that they changed their mind!)

Singer Michael Stipe Mr. Stipe says ...

"Don't tie them [shoes] in a double knot, I'll never get out of it."
