Let me tell you a little about myself.
I was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in Beaverton, Oregon. I attended law schools at both American University in Washington, D.C. and the University of Oregon School of Law where I graduated in 1971
I practice primarily in State and City courts. While attending undergraduate and law school in Washington D.C., I worked at the U.S. Capitol for four years until returning to Oregon.
I was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 1971 and the U.S. District Court in 1974. I was admitted to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1984. I have limited my practice to State courts since 2000.
Other professional achievements include being the founding director of the Public Defender Office of Lane County, from 1977 to 1983 and prior to that I was in private practice after being a deputy district attorney in Washington County, Oregon.
Other skills include foreign languages. I speak and read some German and I am also attempting to learn Russian on my spare time. I have visited and lived in Europe and visited Russia twice, once in 1997 and again in 2002. I continue to study the Russian language and I should be fluid by 2043!!!
