Building a More Bike-Friendly Eugene through:
Bikeways
The EBC was instrumental in ensuring the completion of the East Bank Trail (Valley River Center to North Delta Highway) despite strong opposition. Other achievements include:
• Ferry Street Bridge area bikeways—advocated for underpasses of MLK and I-105 on-ramp
• Lorane Highway—shoulder improvements on section outside City limits
• North Bank Trail—protecting path from impact of I-105 widening
• Downtown Street Improvements—advised City on changes to streets in downtown area
Current projects: Beaver/Hunsaker—links Santa Clara neighborhoods to Riverbank
Monroe/Friendly Bikeway

Bikeway Support
Supported banning motorized scooters on off-street paths
Advocated improved signage on off-street paths
Bike Parking
Helped draft Eugene’s Bicycle Parking Requirements and Parking Design Recommendations
Monitor enforcement of bike parking requirements at new developments
Meet with business owners to request better bike parking
Bike Theft
Met with Police Department, Lane County Court officials to advocate for stronger measures to reduce bike theft
Produce/circulate flyers advising bicyclists of need to lock bikes securely
Education
Sponsor Bicycle Safety Education Program in Eugene-Springfield middle schools
Led University of Oregon planning students on tours of Eugene’s bikeways
Offer bicycle rides for beginners
Participate in Bike Rodeo and helmet-fitting events
Bicycle Promotion
Volunteer at Bicycle Commute Day, People-Powered Friday, TravelSmart, etc.
Submit Letters to the Editor on bike-related topics
