As discussed in class, those who wish to augment their Midterm grade may write a short paper on a particular topic. This paper is due in class on Tuesday, November 14. No later papers will be accepted. This is NOT a requirement; this is an extra opportunity for those who wish to try to raise their grades. This paper will be worth a maximum of 25 points. In addition, the paper will need to be written according to certain guidelines.
The Topic and Writing About It
The topic you are to write about is: "Approaches to Landscape in Early Modern Art." You will use the lectures, Canaday, and your own interpretations to produce a short paper, 2 to 3 pages typewritten or 3 to 4 pages handwritten. The basics for the mechanics of the paper are:
- If typewritten, the paper needs to have margins no greater than one inch on all sides, no more than double spacing, and a typeface no greater than 12 point.
- If handwritten, the paper should be written neatly without skipping lines.
- No sources other than Canaday, the lectures, and your own views may be used. No exceptions. All references to Canaday must be cited in this way: "Canaday writes that Van Gogh's landscapes are his most important subject." (345-346) The numbers refer to the pages where this information can be found. You must indicate these sources; not to do so could be plagiarism.
