Grove Dictionary of Art The online version of what they call "the most comprehensive online reference resource for all aspects of the visual arts from prehistory to the present day." Art 106 at Rutgers University This is a site I set up for the Fall, 1997 rendition of RU's 106, their version of our course. I haven't rechecked it lately, so some of the links will be down. But, you will get to see what the semester-length version of this course is like, AND you get to see extra sites on stuff Gardner doesn't cover, such as the Harlem Renaissance, the Armory Show, and the Beats.
