Because there are two sections of Art 106 the schedule is described here on a week by week basis. These lectures are outlined below, with links to a list of the works covered that you are expected to know.

Week One: 28 to 30 August

• Introduction to the Course. Reading: The Introduction, pp xiii to [end] Begin Chapter 19. Take a look at The 14th-15th Century Monuments Page

Week Two: 2 to 6 September

• Reading: Chapter 19 : 534 to 557 Continue with The 15th Century
• N.B.: Monday 2 September is Labor Day...don't come to class! 4 September is the last day to add a class.

Week Three: 9 to 13 September

• Read Chapter 20 : 559 to 588; finish Chapter 20.
• "Practice Quiz"--done as a normal quiz, but not graded: Thursday and Friday.

Week Four: 16 to 20 September

• Chapter 21: "Humanism and the Allure of Antiquity." Reading: 590 -633.
• First Real Quiz: Thursday and Friday
• N. B.: September 18 is the last day to drop w/o it appearing on your transcript; last to change credit to pass/fail, credit to audit, and vice versa.

Week Five: 23 to 27 September

• Planned: Begin Chapter 22: "Beauty, Science, and Spirit in Italian Art." Reading: 636-664 (The High Renaissance). Here is the list of monuments to be covered.

Week Six: 30 September to 4 October

• Continue Chapter 22. Reading: 664-687 (Venetian Art, and Mannerism)
• N. B.: Friday, 4 October is Fall Break...don't come to class!

Week Seven: 7 to 11 October

• Chapter 23: "The Age of Reformation." Reading: 691-717.

Week Eight: 14 to 18 October

• Chapter 24: "Of Popes, Peasants, Monarchs, and Merchants: Baroque and Rococo Art." Reading: 720-741 (Italy).
• The Midterm Thursday and Friday.

Week Nine: 21 to 25 October

• 21 October is University Midterm

Week Ten: 28 October to 1 November

Week Eleven: 4 to 8 November

• Second Quiz. Thursday and Friday

Week Twelve: 11 to 15 November

Week Thirteen: 18 to 22 November

Week Fourteen: 25 to 29 November

• 28-30 November: Thanksgiving

Week Fifteen: 2 to 6 December

• Third Quiz. Monday and Tuesday.

Week Sixteen: 9 to 13 December

Final Exam for MWF 9:00-9:50: Tuesday, 17 December, 8 a.m.
