There is a great display of wildflowers in Grasshopper Meadow in early summer,
including a whole field of blue flax (Linum perenne) . There are
also fine views of the Cascades from the top of the meadow.

Linum perenne (Flax)
Linaceae
A perennial herb with blue flowers on a long stem. Found in meadows.
Penstemon procerus (Small-flowered Penstemon)
Scrophulariaceae
The purple (sometimes white) flowers of this penstemon are arranged in
whorls along the stem. It is not common in our area. We have found it only
in Grasshopper Meadow and on nearby Chucksney Mt.
Mimulus sp. (Monkeyflower)
Scrophulariaceae
This fine specimen of Mimulus was found along a stream on the
Grasshopper Meadow Trail.
