- HIKING TRAILS AND WILDFLOWERS by Keith and Barbro McCree -

The moderately easy trail to Diamond Creek Falls begins at the bridge
over Salt Creek, just above Salt Creek Falls in the day use area off Highway
58. It follows the canyon rims of Salt Creek and Diamond Creek around to
upper Diamond Creek Falls. There are several viewpoints en route with views
of canyons and waterfalls. At about 2 km (1.2 miles), a spur trail leads
down to the foot of Diamond Creek Falls. The main trail continues to the
junction with the Vivian Lake Trail, which can be used to loop back to Salt
Creek Falls. The wet meadow above Diamond Creek Falls is a good place to
find wildflowers.

Mertensia paniculata (Tall Bluebells).
Boraginaceae
Tall plant with large leaves and tubular-shaped blue flowers. Found in
wet, sunny areas.

Rubus spectabilis (Salmonberry).
Rosaceae
Tall shrub with large pink flowers and pink (salmon) berries. Often found
on the banks of streams.
