- HIKING TRAILS AND WILDFLOWERS by Keith and Barbro McCree -

The Blair Lake Trail runs along a ridge from Blair Lake to the Taylor Burn
campground in Waldo Lake Wilderness, a total distance of about 23 km (14
miles). The trail crosses a series of meadows, some of which provide excellent
views. Blair Meadow (at the trailhead north of the lake) is a favorite spot
of wildflower enthusiasts. About 2km up, a rock outcrop just below the trail
provides an overlook of the lake and meadow.

Castilleja sp. (Paintbrush)
Scrophulariaceae
One of many species of Castilleja that grow in this area. Found in
dry meadows and on rock outcrops.
Saxifraga ferruginea (Rusty Saxifrage)
Saxifragaceae
This delicate saxifrage has small white flowers with pink anthers, and leaves with toothed margins. Found in moist areas.
