WITNESS TO A CRIME
A Citizens’ Audit of an American Election
By Richard Hayes Phillips
Monday, September 15th, 6:30 PM World Cafe: 449 Blair Blvd Sponsored by Eugene PeaceWorks 343-8548
UO alumnus and author, Richard Hayes Phillips
has been the leading investigator of the fraudulent 2004 presidential
election in Ohio. His work was relied upon by John Conyers in
challenging the Ohio electors in Congress, by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. in
his article for Rolling Stone magazine, and by Algenon L. Marbley in
issuing his federal court order protecting the ballots from
destruction. Assisted by teams of volunteers equipped with
digital cameras, Phillips amassed some 30,000 images of forensic
evidence. Then he analyzed it all himself, examining 126,000
ballots, 127 poll books, and 141 voter signature books from 18 counties
in Ohio.
The 2004 presidential election in Ohio, the state that decided the
election, was rigged. Richard Hayes Phillips, Ph.D., began
investigating the Ohio election when he received an unsolicited e-mail
containing obviously erroneous election results from Cleveland.
He quickly found that hundreds of votes in certain precincts had
inexplicably race in Ohio. This landmark investigation is a
testament to what private citizens can accomplish when government
officials fail to protect our right to vote and to count those votes as
cast. Every American – Republican and Democrat –
should read this book, and join the fight for democracy’s most
fundamental right.”
- Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
EMA BRANCHES OUT TO VIDEO GAMES AND SPORTS WORLD FOR JULY FILMS AT COZMIC
In connection with the upcoming Olympic Trials,
Eugene Eugene Media Action, a Committee of Eugene PeaceWorks and the Media
Education Foundation proudly presented a free screening of two
provocative documentary films on Sunday, June 22.
The opening film was titled “Game Over: Gender,
Race & Violence in Video Games.” Game Over is the first
educational documentary to address the fastest growing segment of the
media through engaging questions of gender, race and violence. It
offers a refreshing dialogue about the complex and controversial topic
of video game violence, and is designed to encourage high school and
college students to think critically about the video games they play.
The second film was “Playing Unfair: The Media
Image of the Female Athlete This is the first video to critically
examine the post-Title IX media landscape in terms of the
representation of female athletes.
DVDs of the two films will be available for sale for personal use. For
more information, call EMA at 484-9167.
